13 How to Add Notes Custom Fields

Custom fields are useful for customizing a note template, by adding data fields that meet the specific requirements of the note documentation.

  1. Click on Configure
  2. Click on List Configuration
  3. Click on Notes→ Custom Fields

  1. Click on the Add Custom Field button


  1. Select the Object Type as Note.
  2. Select the Template to which you want to add custom fields.
  3. Enter a Label for the title of the field to be added.
  4. Select the custom field type. Note: There are 7 field types to choose from. Fields types include the following: Text, Long Text, Date, Number, Section Header, Check Box, and Drop-down List.

Helpful Hint: For note fields requiring paragraphs or longer, the Long Text field type is recommended.

  1. Select the Position for the custom field. Options include Header, Body, or Footer.

Helpful Hint: The field type of Section Header can only be selected with a Position of “Body”.

  1. Select the Required checkbox if you want to make a particular data field required
  2. Click on the Save button to save the custom field

Helpful Hint: You can change the order of saved fields by simply dragging and dropping vertically from the Configure Custom Fields window.
