09 Creating an Override Role
Overview
There may be certain circumstances when it is appropriate to allow caregivers to override enforced validations for late notes. By configuring a role that specifically allows associated users to override late note validations, you can allow notes to be signed that are outside of the standard time range established for notes considered on time. This also allows you to maintain control over validations for the standard caregiver role(s). While this course will focus specifically on creating an override role for the purposes of signing late notes, an override role can be created for any system validation or combination of validations.
Creating an Override Role
- Click on Configure → Security → Configure Roles.
- Click on Add a Role
- Enter a Name for the Role.
Helpful Hint: You will need to indicate that this is an override role within the description.

- Remove the selected user from the currently assigned role.
- Locate the override role under the “Not assigned to this role” section and select the checkbox next to the description.
- Click Save.
Helpful Hint: Once the staff has completed and signed any note corrections, be sure to reverse the process and remove them from the override role and add them back to their standard assigned role.
